Based on original idea by Cheikh Birahim Ndao, age 17, Senegal
An extremely touching story of how a young boy learns about AIDS when his favourite uncle, Ali – who is very ill – comes to live with him and his family. Despite his family’s reticence to inform him, Cheikh discovers that his uncle has AIDS and that he has been thrown out of his home because his neighbours, in their ignorance, imagine that they can catch HIV through everyday exchanges with him. Cheikh learns that his own support, respect and affection can help Ali fight his illness. Through it all, Ali maintains his strong spirit and a great sense of humour.
